Body acceptance devoid of sexual overtones is difficult for most people because of how most North American prople are socialized. Nudist/naturist cultures have successfully overcome this wider culturally learned bias of sexualizing nudity, and are increasing in numbers at resorts, beaches, state parks, and in backyards. Children brought up to distinguish sexuality from sensuality show remarkable psychological balance as adults, and are much less likely to engage in pornography and commit sexual assault. And divorce is much less frequent within nudist/naturist families. Religion is one of the culprits that stigmatises body acceptance, as well as women’s rights to equality.
